What is NAMTA?

The North American Music Teachers Association (NAMTA) is an organization of professional music instructors and schools. NAMTA was created to promote music education by helping students connect with qualified teachers in their communities.

NAMTA is the first teachers association to focus on the business side of music education. We support our members with sophisticated online marketing and advertising programs designed to help music teachers and schools attract and maintain students.

NAMTA member web pages are accessible online —free of charge —allowing parents and students to choose a teacher or school with confidence prior to starting a music lesson program. All NAMTA teachers and music schools must pass a background check before their profile pages are accessible to the public. In addition to member profiles, students and parents can read reviews of NAMTA instructors and/or schools submitted by students.

At NAMTA, our focus is on making music education more rewarding—for students, teachers and families. Our vision is to create a trusted network of instructors and schools, along with unique teaching support services that all work together to foster excellence in music education.
