Personal Statement/Bio:

I am a professional musician who ears a large percentage performing with groups of all different genres. I am also a university professor who teaches and does clinics over many different age ranges. In my travels, I am always looking for people for me to study with and learn more. Learning is a life-long journey and I have been very fortunate to study with people recognized world-wide as authorities on brass instrument playing.

Education/Training:

I am a professional student. My teachers include Arnold Jacobs, Ray Mase, Vince DiMartino and Jim Manley. I have studied many different approaches to play through written materials and masterclasses. It's important to understand "why" things work and the results they provide.

Teaching Philosophy:

My goal is based on Arnold Jacobs teaching methods. Playing should become as automatic as singing. Several obstacles have to be overcome, the main of which is learning to listen critically and knowing what to listen for. In many cases, the body will correct errors in technique if the expectation from the player is sound. When that fails, it's necessary to determine what steps will correct the technical errors. I want to teach the student to learn themselves and grow into the ability to teach themselves and others and to tell their "story" through music.

Cancellation Policy:

Instructor cancellation: If instructor fails to leave message, next lesson is free. Students should check email/voicemail/text (per prior agreement with instructor) before leaving for studio.
Student Cancellation: At least one hour required before lesson start time, or full rate for the lesson will be billed.
