Personal Statement/Bio:

I have played piano since the age of 6. I have studied piano for over 20 years, and currently study piano and voice with a master instructor. I have been the organist at my church for 40+ years, I play the piano for my church's sunday services for children, and I play accompaniment for select vocalists and instrumentalists. I also teach beginning voice lessons. I have been a teacher at the Middle School & High School levels.

Education/Training:

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University, and worked on my Teaching Credential at Chapman University. I have studied with piano, trumpet and vocal teachers in Montana, Utah and California. I currently study piano and voice with a Master Teacher here in San Diego.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe in positive reinforcement - and I try to keep my lessons very positive. I encourage my students to practice 30+ minutes per day, but I feel it is the responsibility of the parent and student to follow through with this time commitment. For beginning students I utilize the Bastien method. For intermediate, advanced and adult learners I use many different sources of music. I teach music theory at all levels of instruction. I feel that studying the piano is a great foundation for any further musical exploration (vocal or instrumental).

Music Programs:

I sing Baritone in 2 local church choirs, I play the organ for weekly worship services at my church. I participate 3-4 times a year in special event vocal choruses, and I play piano accompaniment for various soloists and choral groups.

Cancellation Policy:

Lesson must be cancelled by the day before, or there will be a charge of 50% of the lesson fee for "no call-no show". As long as you call by the day before, you will receive a lesson for the payment received by me.

1 Free Introductory 15-20 minute lesson/assessment. Family discounts may apply. There is no fee to participate in my recitals (usually 2 a year).
