Personal Statement/Bio:

I'm a lifelong learner and lover of music. Realizing that music programs are getting hit with tremendous budget cuts and living in an under-served community, I felt it was time to make availability easier for beginning band students to receive formal instruction on the flute.

Education/Training:

I have been playing flute since 1979 and achieved high marks and levels of leadership achievement throughout my years.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe in a strong attention to form, posture and intonation. Beautiful tone relies on proper air support, excellent posture and embouchure.

Learning to read notes and performing fingerings are important, but without the proper foundations it means very little.

Flute sounds should be full, balanced and beautiful. I will work with your student to achieve the skills necessary to build upon throughout their lives.

In order to be successful with the flute, the student must be committed to his/her success. Practice outside of lessons is the best way to improve retention and cultivate positive growth.
