Personal Statement/Bio:

The abilty to play music is a gift that every child should receive. The joy in personal expression, the confidence gained by achievement and performances, and the discipline learned by consistent practice add to a child's total development. My goal is to make playing the piano accessible to children of any age and to help them reach their full potential in music, no matter what their future goals are.

Education/Training:

I have a BA in Music Ministry with a piano concentration and a minor in piano pedagogy.

Teaching Philosophy:

I teach using the Piano Adventures method book series by Randall and Nancy Faber. I also teach familiar melodies by ear and finger number because children can play harder songs than they can read music for. Once I see what kinds of songs my students enjoy, I find music at their level that they will enjoy playing to make practice and perfomance more fun and personal to them. I believe that a good piano education includes everything from reading music to playing by ear, harmonizing, transposing, etc.

Cancellation Policy:

If a student will miss a lesson, s/he must give 24 hour notice by phone or email. If proper notice is given, a make-up lesson will be scheduled within the week.
In case of last minute illness or emergency, make up lessons may be offered on a case by case basis.
