Personal Statement/Bio:
John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Central Washington University with focused study in the areas of trombone performance and music education. Mr. Groves leads his own jazz combo and performs freelance work throughout the region. His performance experiences include orchestra, big band, dixieland, jazz, rock, funk, marching band, trombone choir and small ensembles. John's students have earned positions in All-State/All-Northwest honor groups and scholarships locally and nationally at college/university/conservatory music programs. Groves is also an accomplished musician on the Australian Aboriginal musical instrument known as the didgeridoo. John has studied crafting and performance techniques with notable didgeridoo masters in Australia. His didgeridoo performance and presentations have been featured in local schools, special events, on live radio in Europe and at the National Music Museum.
