Personal Statement/Bio:

I am currently an elementary music teacher in Northwest Arkansas. I have been teaching voice and piano lessons in Fayetteville/Springdale, Arkansas since 2007. I have also worked as a church choir director, musical director and piano accompanist. I love teaching music and feel that it is a valuable skill for any person!

Education/Training:

Bachelors of Music Education - University of Arkansas, 2007
--vocal emphasis, clarinet (secondary emphasis)

7 years experience in music education
--choir, classroom music, musical theater

4 years experience in private instruction
--piano lessons, vocal coaching

Teaching Philosophy:

Music should be an enjoyable and unique experience -- no two students are the same, and they should not be taught the same. I strive to meet my students' needs by understanding their personal interests in music, aligning my expectations with the student's (and parents') musical goals, utilizing reliable resources to teach fundamentals and exploring creativity, expression and style. I encourage my students to achieve their best but ultimately hope that they will develop their understanding, appreciation and love for music through our time together. Whatever your age or experience, exploring music can be an enjoyable activity!!

Music Programs:

Beginning piano students typically follow the Alfred Basic Piano Library method series. Additional activities and music may be utilized to meet the student's musical goals. Voice and intermediate piano students will be assessed to determine the appropriate method book or repertoire for their needs. Students will be responsible for the cost of any books or resources.

Lessons may be taught in the students' home or in another location. Contact me to discuss your options.
