Personal Statement/Bio:
Jeremy was born into a musical family in Cincinnati, Ohio. Music training began at an early age with piano and clarinet, and Jeremy continued music lessons until he graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1991. Throughout these years Jeremy also dabbled with several different instruments, and although his primary focus was on marching and concert bands playing saxophone, he also played guitar in the jazz and concert bands, as well as playing and performing in several musicals.
Education/Training:
Jeremy attended the University of Akron where he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Major in Music Degree. Early in his academic career at Akron, he changed his primary instrument from saxophone to guitar and began teaching and playing guitar and bass guitar professionally. Jeremy began to gain valuable experience in jazz, blues, rock, pop/wedding and reggae bands during this time.
After completing his degree at The University of Akron, Jeremy relocated to Bowling Green State University to begin working on a Master of Music Education degree. In 1998, Jeremy completed his coursework at Bowling Green State University; contacts made during that time led to playing bass guitar full time in one of the several show bands at Cedar Point, and eventually to a faculty position at the Dallas School of Music in Dallas, Texas.
Teaching Philosophy:
I love music, and I want my students to love music also; this is why I teach, and this is the crux of my teaching philosophy. The vast majority of my students play "for fun", and I think that is an excellent attitude. In reality there is work to be done before any instrument is 'fun' to play; without a consistent and steady practice routine it will be months or years before the student is capable of playing just about anything, and owning an instrument you can't play is no fun at all. It is important to me that students make and achieve personal musical goals and it is my primary duty to help them develop a basic level of competency on the instrument so that they are able to reach these goals.
Having spent the past 17+ years teaching lessons to students of all ages and all levels, I am very aware that students are unique and therefore learn and process information very differently, but I have become very familiar with what tends to work and tends to not work. There are practices and approaches which I have found to be effective, and I have also experienced many roadblocks to efficient learning. I have considered these situations carefully and derived a set of standards that are vital to the learning process. Because I take a personal interest in the progress of each of my students, it becomes very frustrating when their learning and enjoyment is impeded and I find myself becoming less and less patient when basic standards are not met as they are vital for progress to be made.
Music Programs:
In addition to solo performances, he also performs or has performed regularly with Big Whiskey, Thrownback Jack, 6 Dollar Date, Firelytes Steel Drum Band, Above the Bar, AYA, and both the Journey Church's and Lifespring Church’s worship teams.
Cancellation Policy:
I expect my students to attend lessons as scheduled.
It is a given that school or work must be the first priority and I will never expect a student to impede upon those responsibilities. However, I advise careful consideration when scheduling any activities that interfere with lesson or practice times.
If a scheduling conflict occurs, a credit for future lessons may be issued at my sole discretion.
Refunds will not be given for missed lessons.
In cases of illness or accident a credit for future lessons may be issued at my sole discretion.
In case of instructor absence, a credit for future lessons will be issued.

I am pleased to guarantee the progress of my students. To the best of my knowledge, no other teaching studio offers the same promise.
