Personal Statement/Bio:
www.hgpiano.com
Hamilton Gutierrez brings over 20 years of expertise in all genres of piano performance, composition, direction, voice, theory and technical prowess. A certified musician of the National Piano Guild, Hamilton has lent his prolific musical and marketing abilities to various festivals, regional choirs and special events as classical pianist, modern composer and arranger, concert hall director and fundraiser gala coordinator. Years of extensive collaborations with Yamaha, Steinway and recording artists allow Hamilton to provide his students with the benefit of a profound understanding of piano techniques and intrinsic methodology of this most grand instrument. Through the integration of infinite patience, intense love of music and unique set of teaching methods, he elevates students to continually greater heights of technical dexterity and soulful expressions of lyrical melodies.
Education/Training:
His musical instruction began at the age of 7 while residing in Brussels, Belgium with his family. After moving to the United States, Hamilton continued his pursuit of musical excellence through private lessons in piano, oboe, viola and voice as well as jazz theory and through participation in numerous choirs and master classes.
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe music is language, and as such I teach my students how to "speak" (play) before learning how to read and write music. This I believe enables the musician within you to awaken and to develop a culture of sound. I also expose my students to an array of musical styles and demonstrate the various, sound effects and techniques that one can use to create such sounds. This helps the students attain a creative and sensitive perspective of the piano and of sound. Through a variety of teaching methods tailored to each student, I provide detailed attention to each student's unique strengths and weaknesses. While I am strict in discipline, and the frequency of practice time at home, I also emphasize the value of having passion and enjoyment for music.
Music Programs:
National Guild of Piano Teachers, American Guild of Organists. Music Director for St. Dominic and Palm Springs Methodist Churches. Accompanist for Pridelines Youth Chorale and University of Miami's, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Miami Shores Choir. Numerous seasonal festivals, master classes and workshops.
