Personal Statement/Bio:
Private voice instruction / coaching from a qualified, caring professional.
Emphasis is on correct singing technique, breath support, expanding the vocal range, and a relaxed, open tone that is powerful, rich, & expressive which will be applicable to a variety of musical styles.
Students of this studio are taught all skills necessary for a well-rounded education in music, including theory, sight-reading, musicianship, and ear-training.
Our work together will also include song interpretation, poise & presentation, and opportunities for performance to help you gain confidence in your singing.
Students of all ages are welcome who want to learn to sing better, whether they are just beginning, a seasoned professional, or somewhere in-between. I offer the same level of service to those who are taking lessons for fun & recreation as I do to the student who is serious about a career in music.
Visit our website today for more information or to enroll in lessons.
Education/Training:
Mrs. Batey holds degrees in both Music Education (B.M.Ed.) and performance (M.M.) and has over 16 years of teaching experience in both the public school and college classroom as well as the private studio, in addition to a wealth of performance experience.
Teaching Philosophy:
For beginning students, we start with the basics of music theory, sight reading, musicianship, and ear training, along with the foundations for healthy singing.
To more experienced students, I offer assistance with technique, interpretation, and preparing for auditions and competitions.
I provide regular opportunities for my students to perform at concerts, recitals, and less formal occasions where they can gain self-confidence through musical expression.
