Personal Statement/Bio:

I have been playing the harp for more than 30 years and teaching for more than 20 years. I currently have students ranging in age from 13 to 86 online and in person. I teach the French method (also known as the Grandjany method) and can provide instruction on lever harp, pedal harp or cross-strung harp.

I prefer to teach students who already know how to read music, but we can start from scratch if needed.

I can also help you find a harp to rent or buy, especially in the Houston area.

Education/Training:

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music from Stephen F. Austin State University and have studied with Mildred Milligan, Mildred Dilling, Louise Trotter, Cynthia Cooper, John Hastings, and am currently refreshing my studies with world-renowned concert harpist, Emily Mitchell.

Teaching Philosophy:

I don't follow any one particular method or set of books. I prefer to work with individual students to determine what their strengths, aspirations, and interests are and custom design our course of study from there.

Music Programs:

I played in the SFASU orchestra while I was in school and have also performed with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra more recently.

Promotions:

For students who do not live close enough for lessons in person and choose to do online harp lessons, we can do an free, short session to get webcams, etc. set up properly.
