I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to pursue a more active career in music. I've studied music since I was 6 years old and haven't stopped since. I started with private piano lessons at 6, graduated to the flute in middle school, private vocal instruction from 16 on, and I essentially taught myself guitar for 11 years now.
Not a day goes by when I don't play some sort of instrument or am humming or whistling a tune. Music is a huge part of my life and feel that I need to share my knowledge and love for it with as many people as possible just as so many influential people in my life did for me. I've had amazing opportunities and am surrounded by renowned musicians who inspire me daily of which I am so grateful for.
I like to create an organic and personalized experience for all my students.

I incorporate classical (tonal harmony) and contemporary music theory as well as ear training/aural theory into every lesson. This prepares the student to have a wide range and ability to play numerous instruments and essentially write or compose. I like to explore composition with my students and give them the building blocks to create on their own. We will sporadically have composition projects that we will work on in lessons and as homework. I often structure my lessons around the Orff-Schulwerk method by using speech, movement, singing, & body percussion. I am certified to teach the Orff-Sculwerk method from Chapman University. I will frequently use the Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Suzuki methods depending on the students own unique way of learning. I like to keep a healthy balance of these methods while honoring the student's unique learning style to help them become well rounded musicians who can adapt in any musical setting. I also teach beginning to intermediate levels of guitar, voice, and flute.
