Personal Statement/Bio:
My name is Lissa Pohlman My husband Hal, daughter Erika and I have lived in Mason City since May of 2004.
Education/Training:
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Luther College in Decorah, IA. I taught Instrumental Music in Dunkerton, IA in the 80's then met my husband (also a teacher and coach.) We moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. for 22 years. While in Sioux Falls I taught private trumpet and piano lessons while working at Citibank Credit Card Operations as a Fraud Investigator.
Teaching Philosophy:
This piano studio provides an environment for music education and enjoyment. This includes a balance of theory, sight-reading, ear training and repertoire personalized according to the student’s level of proficiency. One of the focal points of the studio is to develop individuality and musical inspiration.
Music Programs:
I also played trumpet in the Sioux Falls Municipal Band and in the Sioux Empire Brass and the Mason City Municipal Band.
