Personal Statement/Bio:

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with children, adolescents and adults in the study of piano for six years. I have found private instruction to be the most effective teaching method for all age groups but I do offer small group lessons for children six years of age or younger. I grew up in a musical family and began my own on the piano classical training when I was four years old. As a student whose musical education started before her scholastic education, I can personally attest to how beneficial learning music is to all other academic areas of learning. According to a Gallup Poll, many others agree with this. "78% of Americans feel learning a musical instrument helps students perform better in other subjects."

Education/Training:

I recieved private piano lessons for eleven years beginning at the age of four. I studied under concert pianist Chad Twedt for one year and am currently pursuing a degree in music education.

Teaching Philosophy:

The single most important attribute of music education is the quality of the student / teacher relationship. A good rapport must be established before anything else can take place. A good teacher does not take a textbook approach to the teaching of each student or become impatient when one method works with one student but not with another. A good teacher has an infinite amount of patience and appreciates each students abilities, strengths and weaknesses and teaches accordingly. I get on the same level as my student while still remaining the teacher. I collaborate with the parents or adult student in a weekly practice plan and expect student cooperation. The rewards of dedication and discipline are simply immeasurable, not only to the student, but also to the parents and teacher.

Cancellation Policy:

Lessons must be cancelled at least twenty four hours in advance or no refund will be given.
