Personal Statement/Bio:

Hey, I'm Jeremiah. I was born & raised in Los Angeles, CA & have been playing guitar for over 14 years now. I have played in numerous shows around the country as well as many live shows in Europe. Over the years, I have learned many different styles of guitar as well as many different types of musical composition from all different types of people and genres. I listen to all ranges of music from Blues, Jazz, 50's Be-Bop, Rock N Roll, Country, Latin, Reggae, Folk, World, Western, Eastern. I feel that music can express what we sometimes can't say with words.

Education/Training:

I will be attending a University or College during the Spring Semester of 2010 & pursuing my degrees in Ethnomusicology & Music Education. I am currently playing in a Jam Based band called "Troika", in the Inland Empire,CA & another jam band in the United Kingdom called "Forever 27". I am a Air Force Veteran with Four Military Medals For Service & Honorable Discharge.

Teaching Philosophy:

I have taught many students over time & the one consistent fear or problem they had was "Patience". They feared, as most teachers tend to do on many occasions, that I wasn't going to be patient with them. That I was going to be hard on them when they didn't know a particular answer but thats not what I feel learning an instrument is about. I feel that playing your instrument should come from the heart & not the mind. Meaning, do not assume that you know nothing but know that you can understand everything.



What I want my students to take from my lessons is a sense of understanding on how their instrument works. How each note functions with one another. How to properly place your hand to harmonize & sustain a note. I also teach my students basic chord-progression exercises to practice their finger strength & dexterity. Each of my students receive a homework assignment per lesson so they can practice in between scheduled times..



Also, when the student becomes comfortable with their playing, I let them choose a song so they can learn it & record it in my studio. I then give them a copy so they can take it home & use it as a guide or to show their friends his/her own progression. But I only record them if they are confidant & come to me wanting to record. So far, each & every one of my students have made their own personal recording.



The student never receives an assignment that I myself have never played alone or worked out with fellow musicians & teachers. My lessons are given in my studio in which the student learns not just about their instrument but also about "MUSIC"...

Cancellation Policy:

INITIAL CANCELLATION MUST BE GIVEN BY EITHER PARTY GIVING NOT LESS THAN 30 DAYS WRITTEN NOTICE OF CANCELLATION PRIOR TO THE END OF THE THEN CURRENT TERM.

THE CONTRACTOR MAY TERMINATE THIS AGREEMENT WITHOUT CAUSE AT ANY TIME BY WRITTEN OR NOTICE TO THE CLIENT VIA ELECTRONIC MAIL OR PHONE.

Promotions:

TAKE 4 LESSONS AT 45 MINUTES EACH OR MORE & RECEIVE THE FIRST LESSON FREE OF CHARGE.

STUDIO TOURS & FIRST LESSONS ARE GIVEN VIA APPOINTMENTS ONLY.
