Personal Statement/Bio:

I have been playing piano for over 37 years. I was classically trained and performed in many private and juried recitals.

I am currently using my talents and skills as a composer, vocalist and musician in service to my church as worship leader and with a local Christian rock band PureFusion.

I love teaching and have a knack for making learning fun and tangible for my students.

Education/Training:

10 years of studio training in piano
1 year of college training in piano and music
I specialize in teaching Music for Little Mozarts, an award winning pre-school music curriculum.
I have played for various worship teams, bands and church groups for close to 10 years.

Teaching Philosophy:

Every student learns a little differently. There are no two students alike so I first get to know the student before I carve out a curriculum for them. This typically does not take more than a couple lessons to determine.

I train students with versatility in mind. This means that every student will be able to read both from a full score as well as follow a chord chart. They will be able to perform a classical piece and improvise off the circle of fifths. They will understand contemporary styles and classical ones so that there are no limits to what they are capable of performing.

I encourage my students to discover their personal "voice" in order to facilitate creativity and unique style in their art.

Finally, I approach each student with patience, encouragement and safety so that they can grow to their fullest and have fond memories of learning to play piano.

Music Programs:

I am worship leader for my church and fill in for other churches as needed.

I am lead vocalist and keyboardist for the Christian rock band, PureFusion

I am part of the American Federation of Music, my students participate each year in the Jr. Festival Juried recitals.

My students are guest performers each year for the Queen Anne Victorian Mansion Christmas Display

My students have been invited to perform at other special events in the Vancouver area.

Cancellation Policy:

I require 24 hours advanced notice for cancelations in order to reschedule a make up lesson. Make up lessons must take place within one week of the missed lesson. I do make up lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays. No call/No show lessons will not be made up.

Promotions:

I offer one free lesson to all prospective students. The first set of books is on me!
