Personal Statement/Bio:

I have been a church musician since I was 12 years old, serving in churches of several denominations and in Army chapels in both Germany and Stateside.

Education/Training:

I have taught piano for about 40 years in Georgia, Germany and South Carolina.
I studied piano at Columbia College, Campbell College and the University of South Carolina.I also studied with a German maestro while living there.

Teaching Philosophy:

I place strong emphasis on sight-reading, rhythm and technique.

I believe music should be fun. The best way to have fun in piano study is to practive dilligently and come prepared for lessons as much as possible.

Music study is similar to building a brick wall- brick by brick, layer by layer. Each brick is important and necessary.

Music Programs:

Past member of National Guild of Piano Teachers, MTNA, and local chapters of Columbus, Ga and Columbis, SC Music Teachers Association. Member of Music Friends.

I have taught music in Kilbourne Park Baptist Church's Preschool and Kindergarten. I have directed Military Chapel choirs. I play for community functions, weddings, funerals and parties. Currently I play for Kilbourne Park Baptist Church worship services and chancel choir.

Cancellation Policy:

I charge by the month, in advance.
I do not pro rate. I teach year 'round with the understanding you will take all year.
It is necessary to have an instrument at home for practice. A full 88-key keyboard is acceptable, provided it has a pedal. Lessons are taught on a standard accoustic piano in my studio.
